Imran Learning Story - Te Manawa - February 2015

Learner:  Imran Mohammad Asif                              Date: February 2015
Learning Area: iExplore - Te Manawa                      Learning Coach: John Dyer
Learning Observed
Imran has a charismatic and positive nature. He enjoys sharing his learning and discussing  events that are going on in his life. The potential learning that goes on in iExplore suits Imran’s learning style and this was shown in a recent project. Imran was involved in characterising books in Te Manawa by genre and designing how to set up the books effectively. He developed clear understandings about different forms of fiction and non-fiction texts and put forward suggestions for new design ideas in the future. Imran worked as part of a team in this project and showed an ability to work collaboratively. At the conclusion of the project, Imran teamed up with Aryan as they looked at possible new storage solutions for Te Manawa. Ideas were planned and items sourced and priced accordingly. It will be good to see more of Imran’s abilities as we give focus on the development of our library in Term 2.
Evidence of learning

Here is Imran sorting out the furniture in Te Manawa. In the foreground, he had been categorising books into their genre.
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
It has been great to see Imran ‘relating well with others’ and ‘participating and contributing’ effectively in his learning during this project. He has demonstrated a ‘capability’ to see a project through to its conclusion by planning and ‘collaborating’ with others.
Next Learning Steps
Imran is encouraged to use his thoughtful and methodical approach when learning to identify areas that both hold his interest and serve a meaningful purpose.  When Te Manawa projects get going again, I would like to see Imran taking an active role and making a positive difference to an important part of our school.
