Static Electricity Fun
Lavitating Balloon!

Today I saw a balloon was floating above the carpet stuck on to the side of my sofa. It was really amazing to see something floating in midair even though it was filled with CO2. So I was curious about static electricity. Then we read about it and saw a video. This is what I learned.
Static electricity is a electrical charge that forms when negatively charged and positively charged objects rub against each other. For example: when you rub your feet on the carpet and then touch a metal door knob then you get a static electricity shock because the charge from the carpet travels to the door knob which is negative through your hands. Another example is when you get a balloon and rub it against your hair it builds up static charge and your hair stands up straight because it is attracted to the balloon and also each hair is positively charged and is repelling each other. Lightening is a powerful form of static electricity.

Tikanga Moari Performance Practice 😀😎😀
Today we practised our performance on Tikanga Maori. Some people were doing Rakau sticks but I was doing Poi with Justin V, Karliel, Natasha, Aaron & Nathan. First we had trouble with swinging the Poi's but then we watched a video about how to swing the Poi the correct way and some new moves like you swing you Poi on top of your head then with the other Poi you hit your waste side to side. Then we practised a dance schedule so that we don't look awkward in the performance. So after that we went and practised our schedule 3-4 times the it was time up for the 3rd block then we wrote a reflection then it was home time and we all went home. Over all it was a great day and I had a lot of fun practiceing our performance using Poi.😀😎😀

Festival of Cultural Sharing Writing Competition 2016
Today I went to the prize giving event for the festival of cultural sharing at the Fo Guang Shan temple and won first place in the writing competition. Seven schools participated with over 1000 children in the festival of cultural sharing day. Many students participated in the writing competition. I wrote about how you can use 3G in your life and explained what good deeds you can do.
When I went up to receive my prize I felt very happy for my personal prize but also for winning the writing competition trophy for Ormiston Primary School. The prize was given by an officer from the human rights commission.
