Learner: Imran, Lim Hor, Richard Learning Coach: N.Denuwara Date: Term 4

Learning Area: Social Studies

Learning Observed, Key Competencies/ Vision Principles
|
Imran is participating in an iExperience session. This particular session focuses on learning about Rights, Responsibility and Citizenship. For this topic the learners are given the task of creating their own country. Today the first part of the task includes deciding on a name, emblem and motto for his country. To accomplish this task Imran has to use Key Competencies such as understanding language symbols and text. In order to create a name, emblem and motto for his country he has to show curiosity by researching how existing countries around the world got their names, emblems and mottos. By using the internet to research Imran shows that he is capable of using technology to execute a given task. Imran is also being collaborative because he is working in a group with two other learners. His group is brainstorming ideas together for what the name, emblem and motto of their country could be.

Being A I Active Leader
This week me Nehaal Karis and a few others ha d a wonderful day being a I Active leader except for Cassandra because a bunch of chairs fell on her leg and made a massive cut in her calf muscle. It looked really bad. So the good thing is that the people who went to crab tag had a lot of fun thats the main thing. Overall being an I Active leader is a lot of fun. Also today i worked really hard on my
I Explore so that i can calmly finish it of and not have to rush it. Writing blogs is really fun because you can write anything you want.

Back to school
After a long time I woke up one morning & I was terrified because I thought that I would have loads of tests in the first day of school. But it didn't turn out that so I had a pretty good day. Also i woke up at 7am because my mum had a lecture with her boss & team. So anyway i also had a quit a sad day because some of my friends excluded me from playing with them. But the good thing was that i got to play with my best friend Arnav. When i went back home i had a spelling test and did some Mathletics then went on my X-Box and played games for only 20mins.

My B-Day
10-7-15
On the 5th of October it was MY B-DAY. Me and my family went to Rocket Ropes. As we entered the booking place I spotted a fat cat on a chair sleeping. After we booked the tickets we went to a place where we learn how to use the equipment properly. Then went out and used the equipment like we would in the proper activity. Once that was finished we started the activity and it went higher higher. I was so terrified that I would fall of because some planks of wood were really wobbly.
I was gonna go to the last level but it looked too hard to go across. But my dad spotted something else it was the biggest zip line in the whole of Rocket Ropes. I went first and got stuck. How i got stuck was I went too fast and I bounced straight back. Then a nice man came and chucked some rope and pulled me towards the platform then we went to my cousins house and played.

Imran's iExplore Volcanoes Narrative Assessment
Learner: Imran Date: August 2015

Learning Area: iExplore Learning Coach: John Dyer

Learning Observed
| |||||||||
Imran has a wide and varied interest in the natural world and he chose to delight his Hapu group recently with a speech about Volcanoes. Imran enjoyed researching his topic and finding facts and information that was unusual and interesting. He chose a slide show to present his learning and engaged with the audience as he explained the parts of a volcano and how an eruption occurs.
Imran knew many technical and scientific words to describe the parts of a volcano and was confident to ask questions from the audience. I look forward to hearing about more wonders of the world in Term 4. Good Job Imran.

“And if you look very closely, you can see me here on the side of the Volcano!”
Imran takes his research seriously as he gets up close and personal explaining volcanoes to us all.

Next Learning Steps

Imran needs to aware of his audience and present research that is at their level as some learner were not able to engage with the language and content used. He should also try to take his learning further by using his ideas and findings to launch an iExplore than goes beyond just a presentation. E.g. It would have been lovely to see this iExplore develop into making a (real) miniature volcano in the school grounds for everyone to enjoy.
