The Science Road Show!

What: I went to the Science Road Show! The Science Road Show is a fair that's all about science and, fun. When we went inside it was really cool and there were a lot of activities. One of them was the hovercraft. It was really cool and you got to ride the actual hovercraft, and there was a man who did the elephant toothpaste experiment. There were two hosts, and they explained how dry ice turns straight away in to a gas.

So What: what I learned from the event?!? I learned that there is a process for when there is a liquid and if you freeze it it will become a solid (ice) and if you heat up the liquid it becomes vapour. There is also another experiment which is when you have salt water and you put it in the the Suns heat it will make vapour and then you will have salt crystals left in the container that you put it in.

Now What: How I could use my prior knowledge and my new knowledge to make connections. I already know that how to make elephant toothpaste, and how to make salt but I didn't know how dry ice instantly turns into a gas instead of becoming to a liquid then a gas. So all these thing I learned I could use in my I Explore or for my future.

To, Too & Two!?!

HOMOPHONES! Today we learned about homophones. Homophones are basically words that sound the same but are spelt differently ,e.g., there, their & they're & two, too & two. So we had to do a activity about homophones and it was easy because I already know what homophones are and what they mean ,e.g., they're ( they & are) , their ( It's their car ), there ( the cat is over there. )

It was very fun because we got to go in groups and we would have to all write down a sentence that includes on of the homophones and then there was a picture and you would have to guess what homophone is the correct mach for the image. There was a Dolphin and I wrote down that there is a Dolphin in the sea. So today was really cool and I had a lot of fun in the workshop!

NYLD! (National Young Leaders Day)

Today the year sixes went to the NYLD trip and is was really amazing! At first, we had to go on the bus to the Vodafone Event Center, and it was jam packed with cars, students & buses. After we had come inside the massive building, we headed to our seats for the day. The show had started and There was a DJ playing music and then the hosts came and told us about what happens in NYLD. So it basically is we learn about leadership and listen to other people's stories, that could inspire us to do more and help others. This year's topic was "You're a seed born with greatness"

And the first speaker was Aaron Jackson and how he would never give up and always try his best. Then it was Daniel Flynn, and he told us about how he saw an add about people not drinking clean water and that made him think if he could start a bottle water company so that every purchase funds to make new clean water pumps and then people won't have to drink dirty and dangerous water. So it was stories and events that happened in people's lives that have changed so many others lives and brought a smile on their face.

So over all at the end we had a wonderful and great experience and I'm sure that this made people think about that their a seed born with greatness. I learned a lot from today's trip and I'm hoping that this would inspire me to do more.
